New KZN Property for Three Cities 25/04/2002

Adele Mackenzie or Travel News Now reports that the Three Cities Group has acquired the management contract for Spionkop Lodge, situated in the historical battlefields region of KwaZulu-Natal.

'We are delighted to now offer a superb product in a region that has become one of the provinces major tourism attractions,' commented Three Cities MD, Alan Vels.

'From a group perspective, Spion Kop Lodge is well situated close to Alpine Heath, and is an excellent product for our UK and Dutch marketing offices which have been in operation since 1988', he added. Set against the backdrop of the Drakensberg Mountains, the lodge is a mere two and a half hours from Durban or three and a half hours from Johannesburg.

Situated on an expansive 700 hectare game farm, Spion Kop Lodge's accommodation is offered in eight en-suite chalets, each individually furnished with their own veranda, and overlooking the garden. In addition there are two private, self-catering cottages which sleep four and six guests respectively.

There are a number of activities on offer, from a game drive in the Spioenkop Game Reserve to a sundowner cruise on the Spioenkop Dam. Birding safaris, hiking, canoeing and fishing are also on offer. Day tours to the Battlefields are arranged and can be made on horseback or in the comfort of an air-conditioned vehicle.
